Puntacana International School

Puntacana International School

Grupo Puntacana was founded more than 50 years ago with the vision of creating a community for sustainable tourism. As part of this vision, it became apparent that there was a need for quality education in the area for the local Dominican population as well as the foreign community. Puntacana International School was opened in 2000 to fulfill this need.

Puntacana International School is recognized by the Dominican Ministry of Education (MINERD). The Spanish curriculum follows the official programs of the MINERD, and the U.S. Common Core State Standards for English curriculum. As well as the Next Generation Science Standards of international schools. The school is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), recognized for its high standards of excellence in international education.

We are dedicated to the continuous growth and improvement of our programs and the school at large. For the past ten years, our process of continuous improvement has allowed us to consistently deliver quality international education.

We are proud of our international faculty and the values they bring to our school. Our qualified and experienced teachers are supported by assistants, three full-time student counselors, academic coordinators and administrative staff. All are committed to delivering a high quality international educational experience that supports the academic and social development of our students in line with our established Philosophy, Vision and Mission supporting academic and social development.

Student Services Department

Student Services Department

The Student Services Department supports our academic staff and student community with various counseling services. They work with the Parents Association to develop activities that have positive impacts on our school community and provide parents with information and resources related to child development. This department is also re sponsible for the extra-curricular activities programs as well as the admissions process for new students.

Parents Committee

Parents Committee

The Parents Committee offers every parent the opportunity to be involved with school activities through volunteer participation in fundraising and other activities, designed to foster community spirit as well as providing a vital link between teachers and the broader Punta Cana community

The Parents Committee is made up of nine members who are voted into office near the beginning of each academic year (September/October) The Parents Committee provides support and organizational input into major school activities and also meets regularly with the school Director and Sub-Director to pass on and discuss any parental concerns or queries, thus enhancing communication between the school and home

  • Library

    We believe that a love of reading lies at the heart of academic success. The PCIS Library seeks to promote this love by providing a wealth of books catering to students from T1 to 12th Grade. The library is open 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and is in the Pre-school area. Students can visit during recess and parents are welcome to visit when picking children up from school. Students may borrow two books for two weeks at a time. Extensions can be requested, and the librarian is on hand to help during opening hours. We conduct a program of library activities throughout the school year to encourage literacy skills.

  • Audio visual room

    Our fully resourced Audio Visual Room (white board, projector, interactive white board) provides facilities for our students and teachers for meetings, workshops and presentations.

  • Hawks Cafe

    Our cafeteria is open during school hours and offers a range of light meals and snacks to all staff, students, and visitors. It is also open during the extra-curricular activities’ sessions.

  • Medical Center

    Puntacana International School has a qualified medical professional who provides general assistance to all students and staff in matters of health. Our doctor also leads health education campaigns within the school and provides guidance and advice for parents. All medical issues are communicated closely to parents and guardians. Our Infirmary is open from 7.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
